Who She is: Sujin first appears when she goes to Cheju Island for her honeymoon. She and her husband are attacked by a creature called a Kumiho, and she makes it to a payphone to call her best friend, Miho, for help. Of course Miho goes to her aid and, with Pan’s help, manages to save Sujin’s life. Unfortunately, her husband didn’t survive. Later, Miho calls Sujin back to the island to help her figure out the mystery surrounding the cursed skulls.
Appearance: Sujin is a very cute character. She wears her hair up all the time, has somewhat large eyes, and an almost round-looking face. She’s very attractive though. She’s often seen in skirt-suits or dresses.
Skills: Sujin is a very talented coroner. This is the main reason Miho calls her back to the island, to have her examine the skulls. With only a small fragment to work with, Sujin can immediately tell Miho a lot about the skulls, and even figure out the mystery. Sujin is extremely intelligent, though she may act bubble-headed most of the time (Miho says she’s shocked at how smart Sujin really is). Sujin is also skilled with computers and possibly hacking (she knows how to access some fairly secretive websites).

Personality: I like to consider Sujin the female equivalent of John. She’s very funny and upbeat, despite what had happened to her early in the story. She goes SD occasionally, and drives Miho crazy by openly having a crush on Pan (Miho still thinks Pan is a psychopath at this point, which he may well be). What’s strange about her, however, is the almost disturbing speed at which she got over the death of her husband and moved on to liking Pan. She says in the story that it was a marriage of convenience, but even so, you’d think she’d care a little more about his death. But Sujin reveals herself to be a rather odd person. She’s extremely happy with her career as a coroner, and cryptically states that’s she’d love to catch the Kumiho that attacked her and cut it open, performing her own autopsy. Is Sujin just plain weird, or was there something in her past that drove her to such strange hobbies? She seems like the type of girl that used to mutilate small animals as a child. ^^;; Which makes me wonder what other things she’s into.
It should also be noted that Sujin meets up with an old boyfriend on Cheju, and while she acts like she’s annoyed by him, it seems that she’s already interested in him again. I believe Sujin wears her heart on her sleeve. She falls in love (or at least lust) very easily and quickly, but she doesn’t seem to allow herself to get emotionally attached to these men. She rapidly shifts her interests from one to the other. But why is that?
Another point to Sujin’s character is that she seems to harbor a very faint sense of resentment toward Miho. After all, Miho is probably richer and much more popular. Miho even says to her at one point “You were always a step behind me”, a line which could fester jealousy. Despite this, however, Sujin apparently still views Miho as her best friend. Miho was the first person Sujin called when she was in danger, which shows that she had faith and trust in Miho (which paid off). Then later, when Miho asked her to come back (to a place that was bound to have held horrible memories for her) she did so. I think these are very admirable qualities. Sure, she may be a little bit jealous of Miho, but she gets over it. She doesn’t linger on it, and even looks over the snide remarks Miho gives her (of course, Sujin gives some herself, but it seems to be all in good fun). In short, Sujin is a good friend, one you would expect someone like Miho to have.
