In the Real World: Aelita was “born” in Lyoko, so her life in the real world is somewhat secondary to her life in Lyoko. But to keep up the formula of the rest of the profiles and avoid confusion, I’ll talk about her role in the real world first.

Aelita is a very sweet person. She’s nice to Sissi, even after Sissi picked on her. She gets along with all the other characters and the only time she even vaguely argues with someone is when there is some disagreement between her and Jeremie (this is rare, and usually stems from a lack of understanding on Jeremie’s part). Aelita also has a talent for electronics. This makes sense, because she is originally from a computerized world. She’s on par with Jeremie when it comes to fixing electronic devices. Naturally, she is highly intelligent when it comes to things of a scientific nature, and very studious. She probably makes excellent grades. I would bet that she is great in her other subjects as well, not because of natural intellect (as is the case with her scientific knowledge), but because of a desire to learn more about this world.

And therein lies one of Aelita’s major problems. She doesn’t know anything about this world the others live in. She lived in Lyoko for an unspecified amount of time, but we can assume she was there for quite a while, and that she originated from there. She is very unfamiliar with how normal humans behave, and has some trouble fitting in at first. She has said before that she doesn’t quite feel at home in the real world. But I think she is slowly adjusting to this world and how it works. At the rate she is going, she should be comfortable in the real world fairly soon. Plus, she has her friends to help her out.

The other problem Aelita has is her relationship with Jeremie. Though nowhere near as troubled as the relationship between Yumi and Ulrich, the couple do have their problems to work though. For one, both Aelita and Jeremie are shy people by nature. So their relationship is moving at a slow pace. This is good in the beginning, but as time progresses, it will get frustrating for the both of them. Another thing is that Jeremie sometimes seems insensitive to Aelita’s feelings, particularly in her trouble fitting in. We see several occasions in which she is left alone (the others have gone to investigate something or other). In Aelita’s case, this is a bad idea unless she specifically asks to be alone. Since she is still learning about this world and about humans, it’s best for her to have someone with her most of the time. Jeremie doesn’t seem to understand why she has a need to be more like humans, and this bothers Aelita.

Despite their problems, I think they make a great couple and with time, will come to understand each other better. After that is achieved, Aelita will be a lot happier, with herself and with Jeremie, plus she will have more confidence.

In Lyoko: Aelita’s Lyoko look doesn’t seem to have any particular style to it, though please correct me if you spot one (such as, a certain country’s style reflected in the outfit). But it is very pretty and feminine.

Aelita doesn’t do a whole lot of fighting in Lyoko, mainly because it seems that she doesn’t have any weapons (Jeremie really needs to get on that...). In the first season, she spent most of her scenes running and hiding. Although she did occasionally do more, it was rare. In the second season, she is far more active in Lyoko. In one episode she even went into Lyoko, fought off monsters, and deactivated the tower completely by herself. Her abilities in Lyoko seem to center on her intelligence and knowledge of the world. She often manages to evade monsters or fool them into destroying each other or themselves by being crafty and knowing where to run. She also has the ability to manipulate the land of Lyoko by singing. For instance, she can create a wall if ice to protect herself or boulders to jump on to get across a ravine. Other than that, she can create replicas of herself to distract monsters and act as decoys.

But aside from all this, Aelita’s main purpose in Lyoko is to deactivate towers that Xana is using to wreak havoc in the real world. Though anyone can enter towers, Aelita is the only one who can deactivate them. This makes her the single most important person when they go to Lyoko. Adding to her importance is the fact that she can access some of Xana’s data when they go to Sector Five, the mysterious new region.
